Ross Juniors Men’s side played at home on Saturday against Mushet and Coalway. With only three points behind Ross going into the game, Ross knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game. But, welcoming back Callum McCulloch, Aaron Thorley and Callum Trotman into the side, Ross was more confident of getting the win.

Mushet started on the front foot and their players were creating chances while Ross was still trying to get their bearings. Thorley was making some fantastic saves all through the match but soon went a goal down after 25 minutes after a mistake by Jones. Ross wanted to level the scores straight away, with Brad Wooding going up and down the wing but the final ball just wouldn’t go into the net until Ben Gardner got onto the end of a inch perfect cross from Jack Bray, after some good link up play from Paul Wooding and McCulloch, making the score 1 - 1.

In the second half Ross players were slow to restart, Mushet was still creating chances, but with Wayne Husbands, Alex Malsom and Jennings keeping calm heads at the back, Ross had it under control. Ross soon had some chances of their own, with Paul Wooding putting the ball just wide of the post with a power shot just outside the area.

Ross made substitutions, with Jones and Gardner going off for Luke Harris and Trotman, who only needed a couple of minutes before he got his head to the ball from a Wooding corner. This much needed second goal put the home side in front, 2 - 1.

Paul Burnham came on for the last 10 minutes of the game to make a late cameo and Brad Wooding got the final goal of the game with a glorious run down the wing to smash it across the keeper to finish the game 3 - 1.

Rub a Dub Dub Man of the Match went to Brad Wooding for his performance on the wing. Ross travel to St Braivels on Saturday.
