After last week’s unlucky defeat, the Ross Juniors Under 16s bounced back with a decisive 3:1 home victory over a team from Coton Green near Tamworth. But the match was far from plain sailing as Ross-on-Wye went behind almost from the kick off and had to show patience and perseverance to get back in the game.

They conceded after five minutes when, in the wet conditions, the ball span out of the Ross goalie’s hands and into the net. Ross regrouped and took the game to the visitors, but despite half chances for Joel and Jordan, the team were wasteful in midfield and gave the ball away too often.

After the half-time break they came out like a team reborn and were soon rewarded for their efforts. A neat passing move down the left wing found Jordan in space and he made no mistake to equalise. With the visitors losing their discipline, Ross were on top with Jacob controlling the midfield and Aurinas bossing it in defence.

The pressure paid off with a second goal from Jordan, this time blasting the ball low and hard from the edge of the box and into the bottom corner. The game was put beyond doubt by another special bit of skill.

A Ross corner found Kane in space, he twisted round two Coton Green defenders before shooting into the goal. Winning 3:1 this was a superb second half performance from Ross, which they can hopefully repeat for the full 80 minutes on Saturday when they travel to Walsall.
