John Kyrle Year 11 boys football team, ably led by their captain Rob Whitlock, finally achieved their goal of becoming Herefordshire County Champions.
After appearing in previous finals and coming off second best, it was their final chance to gain some silverware. They did this with style, strength and passion, scoring three goals to one against a dogged John Masefield side who never gave up.
The first goal was scored by Jake Smith, from a cross by Henry Godwin. Dan Taylor scored the second from the spot when Rob Whitlock was brought down in the penalty area.
The game continued to be fiercely competitive and with fifteen minutes remaining, John Masefield got one back with a free kick. This made for a nail-biting finale, until Otto Medelsson sealed the win for JKHS with a header in the final minutes.
