ROSS Juniors Women are targeting another Adobe Women’s FA Cup run after a comeback preliminary round penalty shootout win away to Bristol West.

It was an even contest early on, but two quick goals saw Juniors go into half-time 2–0 down.

A change in shape at the break then gave Juniors a better balance, and they came out fighting.

And Millie Malsom pulled one back with a brilliant finish before Pippa Baker completed the comeback to make it 2–2.

Lauren Creed then hit the post and Malsom forced a great save as Ross pushed for a winner, but the game finished all square, leading to a penalty shootout.

Creed, Danni Baker, Pippa Baker and Lily Irving cooly converted and goalkeeper Ruby Wood saved two penalties to help secure a brilliant 4-2 win.

In men's football, Newent Town are already looking for a new manager after Ben Stait left the club after just two months to take over at Cardiff Cymru South club Caerau Ely.

The Daffs played out two Hellenic League One draws over the Bank Holiday weekend, the first one in Oxfordshire where they surrendered a 4-0 lead with 20 minutes to play.

Newent led 3-0 at the break at Carterton and then made it 4-0 10 minutes into the second half before somehow leaking four goals, including the equaliser 10 minutes into stoppage time.

On Monday afternoon at Wildsmith Meadow, they then drew 1-1 with derby rivals Lydney Town, Ben Harbourne putting them in front in the second half only for the visitors to respond with an equaliser within three minutes.

But elsewhere on Saturday, newly-promoted Huntley won 4-3 at home to Minchinhampton in Gloucestershire Northern League Two, Lee James firing a brace and Harry Clark and Kain Goodall also on target.

Meanwhile, Fownhope FC have relaunched with two wins in Herefordshire League Two.

It couldn’t have been a much better opening result than a 10-2 victory away to Worcester United Development, Jack Marlow and Corey Ellis firing hat-tricks and Josh Hunt and Brandon Jennings braces.

And they followed that up with a 3-0 win away to Tenbury United Colts, with the goals coming from Alex Hunt, Jennings and Oliver Tobin.
