After a recently-discovered photograph of Ross-on-Wye football team, the All Whites, from the 1960s was published in the Ross Gazette, a relative of a member of the All Whites team has been in touch with the newspaper.

Tony Beizsley is the son of former All Whites player, Wally Beizsley, and knew the photograph well as he had a copy on the wall of the Kings Arm pub where Tony was formerly landlord.

The Ross All Whites was a pre-war side that carried on playing to the 1980s or 1990s. A well-established side, Tony’s father Wally was one of four men on the committee of the club along with Harry Kirkham, John Crick and Wally Robinson, with all four men being Ross locals. The photograph was taken at Homs Meadow and the side played their home matches at Greytree.

Tony recognised several players in the picture including, Jeremy Whitehouse, Stuart Brundy, and his brother, Derek, Brian Morgan, goal-keeper Reg Ellis, who became a Hereford Policeman, and Brian Phillips, who played for the county team.

A good side, the All Whites won a cup in 1960 but two years later Tony told the Gazette that the side achieved even more success.
