Coaches and teams at Ross Juniors in Ross-on-Wye are delighted to have had a great week with many successes. The U17s won their semi-final 2-0 against Shobdon, and will play Hereford FC U16s at Edgar Street in the HFA County Final.

Whenever Ross and Shobden have met over the last three or four seasons, the games have always been tight, and this was no exception.

Adam Davies scored directly from a corner and Max Jennings wrapped it up with a goal near the end.

Keeper, Ethan Lerego, was in excellent form again, acrobatically saving one long range shot that was heading for the top corner, stopping the premature celebrations from the Shobdon bench. Tom Hassan and Jonno Wight defended well in the middle of the park, whilst newcomer, Jake Smith, made a positive impact in midfield.

TJ Swallow combined to free Max Jennings in the Shobdon area, from where Jennings thundered the ball into the back of the net. Coaches, Tony and Mark Fletcher, were proud of the performance, praising everyone, but reminding them that more work was required in the league before thinking about the day out in Hereford.

The U14 girls beat Cheltenham Town 6-1 in their league and the U12 girls side won 8-0 in Bridgend where they played PJSS Academy, and the U12 girls have secured a friendly versus Arsenal PDC at St George’s Park.

A spokesperson for Ross Juniors said: “This weekend will take some beating! Next week has a lot to live up to.”
