Ross Juniors FC has kindly donated more kit to a school this time to Ethiopia. The kit has been in Ethiopia for a few weeks but the liaison person was busy organising a meeting with Sir Mo Farah at the British Embassy.

The coach in question is called Gutu Seyoum and he’s been coaching these junior groups of under 17 and under 15 for about two years.

It’s under a scheme called the Bisrat Project. To be part of these teams players ask if they can play, and if good enough are invited. From there, there’s a chance they may be invited to play for Bahar Dar Town, who are doing rather well at the moment. The town comes to life when there’s a match, the massive stadium is full.

They train early in the morning and late in the evening because of the scorching heat. Guto Seyoum said: “The club is very grateful for the shirts so a big thanks to Ross Juniors FC for their kind gesture.”

A spokesperson for Ross Juniors FC told the Ross Gazette: “We are so pleased that our excess kits are being put to good use and we will continue to find further suitable recipients in the future.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
