The Ross Juniors Girls teams have renewed their gold sister club status with the Birmingham City Ladies for the spring series.

The Ross Juniors first became a sister club to the Birmingham City Ladies last April. The affiliation with the football club has allowed the girls to have access to match tickets, player appearances, coaching sessions, camps, mascot spaces and much more.

Last year, the Gazette reported that players from Birmingham City had visited the Ross-on-Wye Sports Centre twice, to meet the Ross girls and provide some coaching, as a part of their relationship with the club.

In addition, several Ross Junior Girls teams, from the Under 8s to the Under 12s age groups, had the opportunity to visit Wembley Stadium in May, to be part of a pitch parade, prior to the FA Cup Final.

The girls were given a tour of the stadium, and took part in the pre-kick off parade on the Wembley pitch.

The girls have also had opportunities to play on the home pitch of the Birmingham City Ladies Football Club. They took part in a sister club tournament, and have also been able to travel up to Birmingham to play various other matches on the turf.

In working with the Birmingham City Ladies, the Ross Juniors Girls have not only had access to specialist coaching, which has undoubtedly boosted their confidence, they have also been presented with fantastic opportunities and have also been given fantastic role models to aspire to.

Paul Flitney, a Ross Juniors FC coach, told the Gazette: "To be Birmingham City Ladies FC’s first sister club was a real honour for Ross Juniors FC. There was no question about us not renewing it for another season, it gives us such a unique opportunity as a local football club.

"We have players who play in the Women’s Super League visiting Ross to train our female players, and we also get access to free match tickets, competitions and opportunities to be match day mascots."

He continued: "Kerys Harop of Birmingham City Ladies has been exceptional, alongside her playing duties she is such a positive advocate of the female game, her enthusiasm and support has been excellent.

"Two particular highlights so far have been our teams doing brilliantly in Birmingham at the sister club tournament with the U8 and 10 teams winning their sections and some of our girls walking around Wembley on women’s FA Cup Final day.”
