Ross Juniors Men’s team kept up their winning start to the season on Saturday when they comfortably beat Belmont Rangers 7 - 0 in the HFA Cup.

Having already won their first two games of the season Ross went into the game full of confidence, although mangers Dan Morris and Carl Roberts were forced to make three changes from last week’s game due to players being unavailable.

Ross started the game on top, with chances being wasted in the first 10 minutes. They didn’t have to wait long for the first goal to come, although in slightly fortunate circumstances, Gaz Williams’ cross found its way into the far corner of the net. Ross continued to dominate with further first half goals coming from Eli Wooding, Mikey Donaldson, Jack Wright and Joe Loftus, to put Ross 5 - 0 up at half time.

Ross did take their foot off the gas slightly in the second half, although further goals came from Eli and Mikey. The only sore note was a late red card for Jack Wright. The man of the match was Mikey Donaldson.

Unfortunately the 2nd team could not make it two wins for Ross on the day, losing 9-2 against Wellington Colts from the league above them, also in the HFA Junior Cup. The score line did somewhat flatter the home team, but there were still lots of positives to take out of the game for player manager Wes Downing. Goals on the day were scored by Wes and Henry Young.

There is no game for the 1st team this weekend, but the 2nds are at home v Dore Valley in the league, kick off 2.30pm.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
