Ross Juniors travelled to Hereford to play the newly formed Bobblestock Bulls in the Herefordshire Junior Football U10 Green League last weekend.
The game started cautiously, with both sides probing each other’s defences. Dylan having an early chance supplied by a skilful through ball from Charlie. Luca, playing in a deeper midfield role, pinged the ball to the wings, but continued pressure by Bobblestock forced Todd to join Luca in defensive duties.
Bobblestock were rewarded for their pressure, smashing one in as the Ross defence stood off. However, Zak, playing in goal, brilliantly parried away from a one-on-one attack and did the same a couple of minutes later.
Luca had a shot that was spilled by the Bobblestock goalie and Dylan was unlucky not to convert the rebound. It was Charlie however, skipping through their defence, that all but walked Ross’ equalizer in. Ross continued to pile on the pressure leading up to half time, with Luca’s snap shot saved. Dylan also forced a corner from a shot at distance.
Archie’s energy was abundant in the second half. Always running down the loose ball and hassling their defenders. He shot, hit the post and Niall, fox in the box, was on hand to tap it in to give Ross the lead.
Charlie then cut in to make space and poked in Ross’ third goal. Gabriel, solid in defence, calmly cleared his lines when Bobblestock managed to break through.
Luca had a shot saved and Niall, yet again, was on hand to stab in the fourth goal. Ross continued to discombobulate Bobblestock up to the final whistle, sealing yet another win.
Final score: Ross Juniors 4 - 1 Bobblestock Bulls.
