Some of the Ross Juniors Football Club girls were treated to a football camp with a difference on Tuesday, August 28th. The camp, which was run by Thompson Okanagan FC (TOFC), gave the girls team, over the course of the day, an insight into the life of a professional womens’ footballer.
The day covered classroom sessions, ball drills and skills, tactical awareness and psychological aspects of football. What made the camp extra special for the 11 girls from Ross, was who delivered it. The camp was led by Bristol City Women’s Manager Tanya Oxtoby and she was assisted by Nottingham Forest player Sianna Bennett.
Then as a surprise at lunchtime, the girls were joined by Bristol City and England U19 star, Flo Allen.
The day was a brilliant experience and to be coached by not one but three experienced professionals in the women’s game was a real privilege.
Tanya is looking to run another programme in Ross in October half term this year.
