Ross Juniors have a new U9 girls football team playing in the Herefordshire Girls Football League U10 division, who are showing great potential.

Despite many of the girls being new to football and playing against more experienced and older girls, they have shown great skill and commitment in games so far against Belmont, Tupsley, Ledbury and Ross Juniors U10s, and scored some fantastic goals.

The girls were recently presented with their new kit, generously sponsored by HP Scaffolding, making them really look and feel like a team.

Many of the girls hadn’t played football until taking part in the Wildcats programme in the spring, and attend a number of different primary schools, making them new to each other too.

The new kit has completed the transformation from girls with an interest in football, into a team of new friends and aspiring footballers.

The team faces some tough tests in the coming weeks, including a cup match against last year’s winners, Leominster, in the first round of the Herefordshire Cup, hoping the hard work and enjoyment being shown in training and matches will translate into success on the pitch.

What the management have learnt so far this season is that smiles stay on faces whatever the result.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
