Ross Juniors U8s narrowly missed out on a place in the futsal final as they played their final two matches of the season on Saturday, February 29.

The team’s first match of the day was against Pegasus, who Ross had beaten three times already this season. A fast start from Ross should have seen them take an early lead, but they didn’t take their chances before Pegasus woke up and scored two goals of their own with Ross pulling one back through Ellis just before half-time.

The second half began with Pegasus scoring another goal before Ross replied with another goal from Ellis. With Pegasus leading 3-2, Ross pushed for an equaliser and were the dominant team until Pegasus broke on a counter attack and scored their fourth to clinch the win.

The second match saw Ross play Wellington, and a bright start saw Ross take a 3-0 lead with goals from Ellis, Louis and a Wellington own goal. Wellington responded with a goal of their own before Max scored two goals. Ross were completely dominant and Monty followed up with two more goals to seal a deserved victory.

The team put up a great show during their futsal campaign this season, but ultimately came up just short of getting through to the final at Edgar Street, playing against some very good players and teams. The boys showed great teamwork and commitment as well as great skills, which the club hope they will learn from and take into their remaining games this season.

Ross Juniors football would like to congratulate the two finalists and wish them luck int he finals and also thank all the teams who took part along with the organisers for putting the effort in to arrange a terrific tournament.
