Ross Juniors Under 11s extended their run of league wins to six matches, with a comprehensive win at home to Bartestree.
The home side started the match well and there was an early chance for Luca, which was well saved. Unfortunately, Eddie just missed from close range on the follow up.
Soon after, Ross-on-Wye took the lead as Luca’s attempted shot in the area fell nicely for Jake and he found the back of the net.
There was some good interplay between Luca and Blu, which sent Eddie away, and he doubled the home side’s lead.
Jake soon set up another chance for Eddie, but the Bartestree defender got a tackle in. Minutes later it was 3 - 0 as Sol set up Eddie with a great pass, and he finished well.
David and JT were excellent in defence and it took Bartestree 15 minutes to get a decent attempt on the Ross goal, which was well saved by Roo.
Despite multiple substitutions, Ross continued to dominate the game and Oli played in Niall, who was unlucky to see his shot fly past the post with the keeper beaten.
Oli came close three times in as many minutes to extending the lead but the keeper kept out the first two efforts and the third went agonisingly wide.
In the final minute of the first half, Bartestree attacked and, what should have been a routine clearance, fell nicely for their player and, despite Roo making a great save, the rebound fell nicely for another Bartestree player who prodded the ball home.
Normal service was resumed in the second half, with Harvey forcing the Bartestree keeper into a good save. Harvey then fired another shot, which was going just the wrong side of the post, but it was diverted into the net by a defender.
It looked like Harvey was going to add the goal that he deserved, only to see another goal-bound effort blocked by a defender.
Theo and Josh dealt with anything Bartestree could muster, and the Ross boys continued to put pressure on their opponents.
This time it was Bill who saw his shot kept out but Luca was on hand to make it 5 – 1.
Niall came close to scoring from Harvey’s cross before Eddie added two more goals. Harvey was denied once again by the Bartestree keeper and, as the match entered the last few minutes, the visitors threatened to grab a goal back, but JT made a great sliding tackle.
The final meaningful act of the match saw Niall go close with an angled drive that struck the outside of the near post.
The Harley Finishings man of the match was awarded to Jake Talbot.
