Ross-on-Wye Juniors U8s played a hard fought game against a very good Pegasus side recently.

The injured Luca assumed the role of Assistant Manager. Right from the start Pegasus showed their attacking skills and despite Louis getting a hand to the ball, it crept over the line early on.

Ross had a chance on goal with Niall passing the ball through to Jakson who shot one just over their cross bar. Pegasus continued their early domination though smashing in a 2nd and 3rd.

Finn was kept busy in goal in the 2nd quarter making a number of stunning saves, catching a long range shot, then stopping a header, then coming out to smother the ball at the feet of an onrushing attacker.

Ross began to assert themselves in the latter stages of the game. Thomas won a free kick in a dangerous area and Jakson duly converted the opportunity to make it 3-1. This spurred the team on.

Gabriel and Toby in midfield, energised, battled to keep control. Jakson was denied point blank. Thomas playing a more advanced role chipped one just over from range. Gabriel’s shot was just wide from a corner.

However Pegasus got an unstoppable 4th. Ross fought back with Thomas sliding the ball through to Jakson, no mistakes and the score at 4-2.

Given more time Ross would have continued their ascendancy but Pegasus got a 5th, followed shortly after by the full time whistle.

Despite a slow start, the boys demonstrated that they are capable of battling, regardless of the opposition and score line.
