Ross Colts Under 9s faced Pegasus under 9s for their last game of the season. Colts, in their final game, were beaten by a very good side. Despite the results, Colts have improved over the season and the team are looking forward to some wins next season.
Colts made a good attacking start, winning a couple of corners, but from the second one, Pegasus broke forward and scored two goals. Charlie made a good saving tackle to deny Pegasus a third goal. William then put in a good cross, but Owen’s long shot went wide. Todd then had a shot from the right saved by the Pegasus keeper. At this time, the play was fairly even, with Rio growing in confidence at the back making some good interceptions, but soon Owen was robbed of the ball and it was slammed in to the corner of the Colts’ net.
Todd and Alfie combined to go forward well and Isaac in goal made a double save, the second of these was a great dive to his right. Alfie made progress down the wing and passed to Todd, who returned the ball to Alfie, but the Pegasus keeper made a good save.
A long shot by Pegasus was misjudged by Isaac and the ball landed at the feet of the Pegasus striker who slotted home. Colts continued to try hard and Isaac made a stunning save. Pegasus soon scored from a corner after a goalmouth scramble.
Pegasus came out in the second half determined to add to their goal tally, and after several goalmouth scrambles, the score made it to 10-0.
The Colts’ loud and excited fans soon had something to cheer about, as Colts released Todd down the left, who hammered the ball in to the roof of the Pegasus net.
William made a good break out of defence, all the way up the wing in to the Pegasus area, but was robbed of the ball before he could shoot and Alfie battled through and was awarded a free kick which Todd took but went wide. Soon after, a goal kick from Isaac was won by a Pegasus forward who slotted home, Colts then lost possession in the box and Pegasus scored their final goal of the game, before the whistle blew with the score 12-1.
