Ross-on-Wye Juniors Football Club was the only side taking part in the West Midlands Regional Final to have two teams involved.

Ross Juniors U10s boys played brilliantly, with a 4-3 win over Walsall Wood and a 3-0 win against Sutton Coldfield. However when they came up against a very impressive West Bromich Albion, it was a game too far. The boys fought valiantly but lost 3-0, but thanks to their earlier high standard of play, they came runners up overall.

The U12 girls met Shifnal in the final and took a 3-0 lead with Millie, Bel and Amy scoring. Ross lost their concentration, mistakes were leapt on, and it was then 4-3 to Shifnal.

Excellent keeping from Hannah kept them in the competition as Shifnal pressed for more.

Fortunately, the Ross side awoke from their slumber and found the extra gear, and three more goals from Millie saw the girls triumph 6-4. This means that they have qualified for the National Semi Finals.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
