Ross Juniors Men travelled to Longhope on Saturday, for a local derby in the Gloucestershire Geo Sandoe Cup.

Ross started the game really strongly, and were on the front foot from the off. The first goal came after 15 minutes when Dave Nicholls got the sweetest of flicks from a Brad Wooding cross.

Not long after it was 2 - 0 to Ross after a Longhope corner, striker Tom Peachey picked up the ball from the Ross edge of the box and ran down the line. He passed the ball to winger, Jack Bray, who then turned and played in the overlapping Peachey.

He took it past the defender and slotted the ball home past the keeper.

With over half an hour gone, and after lengthy injury time out for defender, Dan Irvine, Ross had a free kick. This caught Longhope out on the break as the ball fell to the feet of Brad Wooding, he took a touch and smashed the ball into the top corner to make the score 3 - 0.

Just before the first half finished Longhope found the Ross defence napping and got a goal back to make it 3 - 1.

As soon as the second half started, Peachey gambled on a ball with a Longhope defender and, after deflection, he got his second goal of the match when he put the ball in the top corner.

After 65 minutes Callum McCulloch got on the score sheet after a run from midfield to make the score 5 - 2.

With 20 minutes to go Ross made couple of changes to bring on some fresh legs.

Brad Wooding got his second goal of the game with a shot from a sharp angle off the post, after ball played over the top from Paul Wooding.

The seventh goal for Ross came from Bray, after some good play of football in the middle of the park, he got behind of the Longhope defence.

The game finished 7 - 4 to Ross who progress to the next round. The Rub a Dub Dub Man of the Match went to Tom Peachey for his work rate up front and a brace of goals.

Ross return to league action on Saturday away to Lydbrook, 2.00pm ko.
