Ross Juniors Walking Football Club travelled to Hereford 6th Form College to take part in a festival of walking football on Sunday, July 9th. This was just one of 33 festivals taking place across the country to raise funds to help the fight against Bowel Cancer in memory of Bobby Moore.
The weather was fine and six teams were taking part in the Hereford section, including two teams from Ross, two from Hereford and teams from Leominster and Ledbury. The games were five a side and lasted ten minutes.
The first round was based on two leagues of three teams in each league. The games were played two at a time on two pitches and refereed by qualified referees whilst being watched by a small crowd who were enthusiastic and cheered on there respective sides.
Ross (B) were knocked out in the quarter final by “The Walk of Shame” team who also beat Ross (A) in one of the semi-finals and then went on to win the trophy.
A good day had by all and if you feel you would like to play walking football in Ross then contact Ross Juniors through their web site or phone Ron Goulding on 01989 750546 and if prompted leave a message and he will get back to you as soon as possible.
