A glorious autumnal day saw Ross Juniors U9s play Orelton at home and win 5-0.

Ross started brightly, pressing down the wings with Luca and Jakson being provided with plenty of support from Zak. Luca, given slightly too much time and space in midfield, opened the scoring with a long shot from near the half way line.

This attacking trio, building on a growing awareness of each other’s position, played the ball well with great linked up play.

Niall continued his lone striker role, closing down loose balls, hassling the Orleton defence. Fin, moving up to midfield, dominated proceedings with his presence and voice. The game settled into a more even match with Gabriel and Louis called into action to negate Orelton’s advances.

Zak began to turn the game and was unlucky not to convert from a Luca through ball. But it was Luca again, from a crowded midfield, that got Ross’ second. Archie’s trademark twisting and turning kept up the pressure until half time.

The second half started in a similar vein, with Luca bursting through midfield to feed Jakson, who got Ross’ third. It was Jakson again, slotting in from a crowded Orelton box, who got the fourth. Gabriel, cool as a cucumber, snatched the ball from Orelton on a number of occasions to pass up the channels.

Orelton continued to press however, and Louis was forced into a point blank save. Niall, the fox, poached the fifth and Ross held out for yet another clean sheet. Orleton deserve to be commended on their attitude, professionalism and sportsman like behaviour. Ross are next away to Westfields on the 29th October.
