Ross Juniors U9s and boys from the Saturday Club entertained Cinderford U9s on the morning of Saturday, January 11th.

The match was played in four quarters as Ross gave all 17 boys some playing time. The first quarter was a tight affair and finished goalless. Cinderford went ahead in the second quarter but Ross responded straight away with Morgan scoring direct from a free kick, an unstoppable shot in off the crossbar.

Ross were then unlucky not to take the lead when the Cinderford keeper palmed Morgan’s shot onto the post and the ball ran along the goal line and struck the other post before being cleared. Moments later another Ross shot struck the frame of the goal, this time the crossbar, and then a post and was then gathered in by the Cinderford keeper. At the other end, Euan pulled off a brilliant save to keep the score at 1-1.

Cinderford dominated the third quarter, scoring three unanswered goals but the fourth quarter was another close affair. Cinderford scored with a great glancing header from a corner but Ross responded brilliantly with a good team goal finished off by debutant Bobby. Ross finished strongly with Jasper and Bobby going close to scoring but Cinderford hung on to a deserved win.

The match was played in a great spirit and both teams played some nice football at times.
