Ross Juniors took the honours in this scrappy game against visitors from Kinver, winning 3:2 without ever playing close to their best.

Ross had started well and the first goal came from a neat pass from Wilf down the right wing to Joel, who drilled the ball across the box for Jordan to side-foot into the net.

Conditions were difficult with a muddy pitch and swirling wind, but the visitors adjusted better and their quick passing game soon caused the Juniors’ defence all sorts of problems. Kinver were rewarded with an equaliser on the half hour mark and kept the Juniors under pressure up to the interval. They took the lead five minutes into the second half when a Ross goal kick wasn’t properly cleared and the visitors looked the likely winners.

But football’s a funny game and with ten minutes to go, Ross won a penalty when Luke was brought down in the box and he scored from the resulting spot kick. With the scores level, the last minutes saw action at both ends, but it was Ross who came out tops when, in a goal mouth scramble, Harry poked the ball over the line to give the home team all three points.

Ross Juniors are now fifth in the very competitive Midland Junior Premier League and on Saturday welcome the leaders Wulfrunians from Wolverhampton. Come along to the Sports Centre at 10.30 and see if the boys can extend their winning run.
