Ross Juniors over 50s Walking Football team did well to win seven points in a tournament in Hereford.

On Saturday, January 30th the Ross players travelled to Hereford to take part in a seven-a-side tournament held at the Sport and Leisure Centre.

There were five teams taking part, two from Uxbridge (A&B) two from Hereford (A&B) and Ross Juniors. The weather was cold but kind in that it did not rain. The pitch was astro turf and the ball was one that suited that style of pitch, which were both alien to the Ross team.

All games were keenly fought with Ross beating Uxbridge (B) 1-0, Rick Castles scored the goal. It was the same score against Uxbridge (B) 1-0 with Richard Jeffryes netting direct from a free kick. The goalkeeper only saw the ball when he picked it out from the back of the net, this was followed with a 0-0 draw with Uxbridge (A) and a 0-1 loss to Hereford (A) which left Ross with seven points.

The winners of the tournament were Uxbridge (A) who had eight points as did Hereford (A), the winners being decided by goal difference.

The team is very grateful to their supporters for cheering them on and to Mark Catlin, and Hereford FA for arranging the tournament. They are looking forward to future matches with their great team, if you wish to join them contact Ron on 01989 750546.
