Ross Juniors U12s entertained Ledbury on Sunday morning and took all three points with a sparkling first half display.

The home side started well with David going close early on and Tom being denied by the Ledbury keeper who pulled off a great block. Jayden was unlucky to see his shot go wide when well-placed, but Ross soon went ahead when David sent Jayden away down the left and his cross was tucked away by Tom. Tom almost doubled the home side’s advantage with a great strike from range but once again was denied by the Ledbury keeper. A great cross from Harvey was turned in by Aaron, his first league goal for Ross Juniors, to put them 2 up and then Jayden went close after being set up by Jake.

Ledbury hardly troubled the Ross goal in the first half thanks to Theo, Josh and JT in defence, supported by their midfield team-mates and Roo sweeping (as always) behind them. Ross continued to create chances and Jayden was unlucky to strike the crossbar following a great move down the left, started by JT and involving Harvey and Jake. It was soon 3 – 0 when Jayden set up Jake and Ross continued to threaten with Harvey and Jake both going close.

Just before the end of the half Ross made it 4 with Julien’s superb long range strike (also his first goal for Ross) that flew into the top corner after Harvey’s lay off.

Ledbury had done well to limit Ross to 4 goals at the break but the second half was a much more even affair. Harvey and Jake both had good chances to increase the Ross lead before Roo was finally called into action to make a good save down at his near post.

Ledbury did grab a goal back but the Ross boys continued to create chances, the best of them falling to Harvey, whose shot was well saved and Tom, who shot narrowly wide. Right at the death Roo pulled off a fantastic full length save to deny Ledbury a late consolation goal.

The whole team performed well, especially in the first half, with Roo making a couple of super saves and the defence looking solid but with some great runs from midfield and two assists, the Saltrock Scaffolding Man of the Match was awarded to Harvey Briscoe.
