Ross Junior Colts under 10s travelled to Ewyas Harold for a league match following a long break due to the wet weather.
The team was without five of the squad, and Billy kindly volunteered to go in goal in the first half. Ewyas Harold had a strong start and had the possession to begin with. The Ross defence of the imperious Callum and James alongside him held firm and made timely tackles throughout. Ross began to grow into the game against a very strong opponent who always played the ball on the ground and showed excellent passing skills throughout.
The superb midfield three of Reagan, Josh and Ollie M worked so hard and began to make chances for themselves. Reagan on a typical energetic run glided though the Harold defence to finish emphatically to score. Then another run by Reagan led him to make a great pass to Ollie W who found some space with clever movement and he finished well.
The game went from end to end in the second half and Ewyas Harold were always looking threatening with several great chances. Ollie W who replaced Billy in goal in the second half made several great saves. Up the other end the Ewyas Harold goalie was exceptional throughout making several great saves and then showing great distribution skills from the back.
Ollie C and Billy were working tirelessly in attack and created several chances for themselves with great skills and movement. Ewyas Harold gained the momentum during the second half and put the pressure back on Ross who had to work hard. There was some brilliant passing from them and Ross had to stay focused, they were not given a minutes rest.
Ross began to reclaim possession through their energetic midfield and worked hard to the end, the superb Josh hit the crossbar near the end. The excellent Ollie M replaced James in defence for the closing minutes up the other end.
