Five Monross Trailblazers tackled the Offa’s Orror 20k trail race on the weekend and Andy Stephens continued his excellent racing form with a second placed finish and the team finishing second overall.
The race starts in the village of Brockweir and takes in sections of the Offa’s Dyke trail, which follows the English/Welsh border.
During the Offa’s Orror, the Trailblazers enjoyed the stunning scenery, tracks and trails around the famous path. The route is a little under 20 kilometres, with a height gain of approximately 670m (2200 feet) up hills, along forest tracks, single track footpaths, steep descents and riverbank paths.
Andy pushed hard from the start and finished in one hour, 26 minutes and 16 seconds.
The next Trailblazer home was Bobby Pritchard, who worked hard to finish in 27th place; one hour 42 minutes and 12 seconds. Sam Harness was not far behind in 34th place, and one hour, 43:25. Barry Davies ran well for the first ten miles but, ran out of steam spectacularly, eventually finishing in 66th place with one hour 52:12.
