GOALS from Joseph Harwood, Ben Price and Thomas Randall secured a 3-0 win for Herefordshire Division One leaders Fownhope at Burghill Rangers on Saturday.

Ross Juniors didn’t play and stay fifth nine points behind their Wyeside derby rivals with four games in hand, and travel tonight (Wednesday, April 20) to face Hereford Pegasus Colts, kick-off 7.30pm.

But Worcester United look favourites with the same number of games in hand as Juniors and only a three-point deficit on top spot.

Ross Juniors Colts were also left kicking their heels at the weekend, when Rank Outsiders 2nds were unable to field a team, leaving the visitors with a forfeit win that leaves them third in North Gloucestershire Division 3.

Lydney B are champions seven points ahead, but Juniors still have two games to play and can overhaul local rivals Lydbrook Athletic A, who have one game left and a two-point advantage.

Fownhope 2nds moved up to third in Herefordshire Division Two with a 2-0 win at Tenbury United Colts, George Worswick firing a brace.

Newent Town 1st XI ended their Hellenic League Division One campaign with a 3-2 loss at Malmesbury Victoria to finish 13th.

The hosts scored right on half-time to go into the break a goal to the good, but Morgan Davies levelled around 60 minutes.

And it was soon 2-1 to the Daffs, a quick throw from the keeper starting an end-to-end move that saw Matt Evans fire home.

Vics replied quickly to level things up though, and the Daffs then fell to a sucker punch, a long punt from the hosts’ keeper missed at the back and the ball lobbed over the on-rushing Newent goalie to make the final score 3-2.

Ruardean Hill Rangers lost out 3-0 at home to high-flying Wick in the Gloucestershire County League, the second goal in a damaging opening 28-minute spell also coming from a long keeper’s kick over the top of the defence.

Gloucestershire Northern League Division Two basement boys Lydbrook Athletic look doomed after a 4-1 home Saturday reverse at the hands of second-to-bottom Leonard Stanley, Jason Heaphy providing the solitary consolation.

But Staunton & Corse are safe in ninth after walloping Stanley 5-1 at home in midweek, Ben Troughton and Liam Jones firing braces and Harry Barr also on target.

A Chris Baverstock goal secured a morale-boosting 1-1 draw for second-to-bottom Howle Hill at North Gloucestershire Premier Division leaders Mushet & Coalway.

That followed a 3-0 midweek win at Ellwood in the JO Roberts Cup group stages, Jonathon Atkinson, Ben Fletcher and Tom Hassan the marksmen.

And in the same competition at the weekend, goals from Josh Goulding and Dan Morgan secured a 2-2 draw for Huntley at home to Soudley.

Mitcheldean scored a perfect 10 without reply at home to Rank Outsiders in the George Sandoe Cup in midweek, Adam and Damon Beaumont both firing hat-tricks, with Charlie Meek slotting a brace and Clint Jones and Charles Reed one apiece.

Lydbrook Athletic 2nds lost out 2-0 away to Lydney Town A in the same competition, but Staunton & Corse 2nds won a tight affair on Saturday, Mark Bayliss, Josh Preston and Jack Hicks securing a 3-2 home win over Woolaston 2nds.
