Much Birch couple, Michael and Celia Baker, are celebrating this week, after their horse, Foxcub, a five-year-old bay gelding, won at Leicester racecourse this week, his third win in recent months, making him the highest rated runner in handicapped class and fast becoming a bookies favourite.

Harewood End's Tom Symonds, of Dason Court Stables, was handed the task to find the right horse for the Bakers. After a search of several months he found Foxcub. Not the most conventional of choices, he was unbroken and had never raced, yet he was, said Tom: "Quirky but different. A gutsy little horse." What Foxcub lacked in race experience, he certainly made up for it in breeding – Foxcub's brother is the highest earning horse in Hong Kong.
