The Seniors’ AGM at South Herefordshire was well attended. Before the formal part of the meeting took place a moments’ silence was observed in memory of a very active member of the section, Roy Pipe, who recently passed away and had just agreed to serve on the committee. Roy will be sadly missed and the members thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
The out going captain, Eifion Rees, thanked the members for their positive support and encouragement during the year especially the committee. He was extremely pleased to announce a significant increase in membership of the senior section and also highlighted the increase in competition entries. Both the away days and the tour were initially over subscribed, however, in the end everyone was accommodated and all had an enjoyable time.
The matches were well supported with forty six members being involved. During the year the captain kept a “senior moments” diary which he shared with the members. Further, he thanked the kitchen/bar staff and groundsmen for their efforts throughout the year.
Reference was also made to Paul and Sarah, the proprietors, for their support, cooperation and advice which was very much appreciated. The seniors section collected £1,274.00 for Sheppard House, the captain’s charity, and the captain thanked everyone for their contribution.
Finally he asked all present to give Bob the same support as he had received in his year and wished him all the best for his year in office.
The AGM elected the following officers and committee: Captain, Bob Chance; Vice Captain, Martin Latham; Secretary, John Duvall; Treasurer, Brian Carver; Handicap & Competitions Manager, Chris Burgess; Fixture Secretary, Fred Cook; Co-opted members, John Harper, Simon Rutter and Henry Rivers.
