On Saturday, September 16th, South Herefordshire Golf Club held their 2017 Finals and Presentation day. It was the culmination of the 2017 calendar of competitions for each Section.

On the day, finals were held in each Section for the Summer knockout competitions. Taking the titles on the day were Lesley Colquhoun (winner of the Ladies Summer Singles), Mike Bishop and Debbie Griffiths (winners of the Mixed Pairs), Terry Gibson (winner of the Seniors Summer Singles), Laurie Cork and Steve Broderick (winners of the Seniors Pairs), Colin Spencer (winner of the Men’s Singles) and Nigel Wargen and Fraser Colquhoun (winners of the Men’s Pairs).

Before the trophy presentations, Club President, Brian Bishop started proceedings by thanking members for attending the awards presentation and special mentions were given to Paul Middleton and Sarah Creighton for their work and commitment running the course and club throughout the year. After the final matches concluded, a total of 44 trophies were awarded to major competition winners, marking the achievements of representatives from all sections. Other notable trophies for the year were given to Debbie Griffiths (pictured) awarded Lady Golfer of the Year, and Laurie Cork (pictured) awarded Golfer of the Year.

2017 has been an incredibly busy and very successful year for all the Sections with regular competitions and tournaments played home and away. The Section Committees would like to thank all members for their dedication and support throughout the year, but a special thanks must also be given to the Golf Club staff from the proprietors through to the greenkeepers and clubhouse bar and kitchen staff. Each section has an exciting winter season of golf planned for members with various leagues and knockout competitions due to start in the coming months.
