Ross-on-Wye Golf Club’s annual programme of competitions and events have provided the opportunity for 16-year-old Liam Greig to experience a phenomenal run of success, which had resulted in his handicap falling from 16 to 9 during the past nine months.

Liam is a Gloucester boy, educated at Beaufort Co-operative Academy who started playing golf three years ago at Gloucester Golf Club. After being selected for the County Academy Programme, Liam chose to become a member of the Gorsley-based Ross Golf Club in September 2016, to come within the care of their Head Professional Tim Hall and his ’School of Golf’ where Liam has since been appointed Vice- Captain of the Ross Juniors Academy.

The start of 2017 summer season saw Liam achieve creditable 5th places in two adult medal competitions in which 100+ members had taken part, runner-up in the annual Burn Trophy event in which 120 entrants featured and he was in the winning team which celebrated the Ross course’s 50th Anniversary day competition.

His latest success and outstanding performance saw Liam’s 40 stableford points score take the No 1 spot in Club Captain Kim Hampson’s Annual Prizes Day event which was supported by 115 members from all sections.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition.
