It was a momentous day at Ross on Wye Golf Club on Saturday March 26 as Sally Fycun held her Drive In to celebrate the beginning of her year as Captain of the Club.

Sally, who was Captain of the Ladies section 2020-2021, will be the first Lady Captain of the club since its inception in 1903. In a sport which has traditionally been dominated by men, this is a significant move forward for Ross on Wye Golf Club to embrace equality of opportunity in this important role.

Sally only took up golf in 2013 after her son Timmy joined the Tim Hall school of Golf and became a junior member. Sally soon showed great potential and now plays off a WHS handicap of 7.0.

At the Golf Club AGM on March 23, when Sally officially began her term of office, she described what an honour and privilege it will be to take up this important role of Club Captain. After the unprecedented last two years of Covid restrictions, she is very much looking forward to a rather less turbulent period, where the Club can go from strength to strength, building on the excellent foundations of a full membership, the outstanding services provided by the Tim Hall School of Golf and the commitment of the Greens Staff to maintaining this beautiful course.
