As a relative newcomer to the Wye Valley having joined Ross Golf Club in 2013, Linton-based Robert Tuttiett (pictured right) has enjoyed something of a rollercoaster ride throughout the past six months, both on and off the Club’s tree-lined fairways.

After his appointment as Treasurer of the Men’s Seniors section, 22 handicapper Robert combined with fellow neighbour and Club Vice-Captain, Kim Hampson to win the 2016/17 Seniors Winter Pairs League programme of matches and the Patrick Curtis Shield after their 15 points haul saw them top the table by the slimmest of nett holes won margins.

Ross Golf Club’s March AGM witnessed Kim Hampson’s election as Club Captain for the next 12 months and Robert enjoyed the subsequent privilege of being elected Kim’s Vice-Captain, ensuring that this highly effective combination can continue to perform together in the best interests of all members as well as themselves.

Robert’s latest initiative will see his name being added to the Club’s Honours Board for the Ernest Penn Trophy after his 40 Stableford points score made him the 2017 winner of the Club’s men’s seniors annual competition in which 80 members took part and saw Robert’s handicap reduce to 21.

Seniors Captain, Steve Martin also shone, although despite a sparkling 23 points haul on his back nine holes, just failed to catch Robert, falling one point short with 28 handicapper Barry Smith surprising himself and his countless friends to finish in third place, also with 39 points.

They were followed by Peter Bennett (39 points), Michael Findlay and John Sherahilo (38 points), and David Morgan and Arthur Reid (36 points).
