ROSS 2nds got happy revenge at home to Malvern 3rds on Saturday with a superb display to win 20-7. Earlier this season Malvern scraped the win with a last ditch try, but Ross were too strong in this outing.

br>Malvern were on top for the first 10 minutes, playing most of the rugby on Ross' twenty two. Ross dug deep and weathered the storm with some faultless first time tackling preventing Malvern from scoring.

br>Ross then turned defence into attack, with winger Wes Downing chasing down a kick, gathered the ball between two Malvern players and raced through to score under the posts. Full-back PJ Muldowney converted. This ignited Ross who gained confidence and started to run the ball at every opportunity. A penalty from PJ increased Ross' lead mid-way through the half. The ball ran through the backs' hands to their wingers, Downing and Tom Muldowney, time and time again. When Ross were stopped just short of the line, No. 8 Steve White was on hand to dive over.

br>The second half saw Ross maintain their grip on the game and again the ball flowed through centres Pete Jarvis and Joe Muldowney's hands to find PJ in space to finish a great team try. Read the full report in this week's Ross Gazette
