Goodrich ‘A’ttitudes hosted Worcester B on Sunday, 7th July, and as the opposition could only field two pairs Goodrich already had 6 points in the bag before they had hit a ball.
First pair, Cheryl Mordecai and Kim Martin, got off to a swift start winning their rubber 6-0 / 6-3, enabling them to give support to second pair, Rachael Wintle and Cath Hutchinson, who lost the first set 3-6, but nailed the second set 6-4. All square at one set each, it was Worcester who took back the initiative to nail the third set 1-6.
Meanwhile, Steph Howell and Kirsten Ainsworth, ‘A’ttitudes third pair, were having their own battle on the second court. Having won the first set 6-3, the second set went the way of Worcester, 4-6. Much to the dismay of Kirsten and Steph the third set ran away from them, with Worcester taking it 1-6. This result keeps the ‘A’ttitudes in second place on 55 points having played 5 matches, with Ross ‘A’ in top spot on 56 points after 6 matches.
The Goodrich ladies next match is on Sunday, 14th July, when they will travel to Droitwich to play their ‘B’ team.
