Local superbike rider Luke Jones put in a stellar performance in the latest round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, at Brands Hatch at the weekend. Luke was competing in round five of the competition on his 675 Triumph. Practice was on Friday July 18th and gave Luke and his team time to iron out a few problems, and he duly excelled. A seventh place finish on Saturday, in qualifiying, put him on the third row of the grid for the 12 lap race in the afternoon. Luke started the race well and was up to fifth by the end of lap one. By lap four he rose to third place and held on to the finish. Luke's finish time of 1:28.943 was not only the fastest lap by any rider in the race but was also the only lap time quicker than 1:29.
