A pitch at Ross Sports Centre provided the lone island of football in the washed out Herefordshire Football League, on Saturday, as Ross Juniors Reserves fought back from 2-0 down to earn a draw against Sinkum.

While large pools of water and sodden patches of mud covered much of the land at the Sports Centre, one pitch, somehow, survived the inclement weather when all other matches in Herefordshire were postponed.

However, despite 22 men running around a muddy field for 90 minutes creating the illusion of a football match being played, in truth the conditions meant that there was little football on show in this Herefordshire Football League Division Three clash. The wind and rain battered the players from soon after kick off until late in the game, with only a brief respite at half time. By that time the pitch had cut up and was not conducive to anything but slide tackling.
