The Womens GB Hockey Olympic squad attended a three day special training course with The Leadership Trust in Weston-under-Penyard recently. It was part of their final phase of preparations before the 2012 London Olympics in July.
"We know their preparations have been extensive in the run up to the Olympics and it is a pleasure to play our small part," said Rob Noble, CEO The Leadership Trust. "This week we have been working closely with the coaching staff to ensure that the athletes receive exactly what they need. Our Course Director worked on the course design and delivery with the facilitators, while the staff at Penyard House ensured the athletes were comfortable and that all their dietary requirements were met during their brief stay."
The Women's team recently performed brilliantly in the Champions Trophy narrowly losing 1-0 to world champions and hosts Argentina in the final.
"Having these elite athletes on-site this week has created a real buzz and we are really looking forward to seeing how they get on at the Games," said Noble. "Our type of leadership training focuses on knowing and controlling oneself which will be crucial when the pressure is on in the summer. Hopefully the experience with the Leadership Trust will be that extra boost they need to get that gold. We will all be wishing them success in that endeavour."
