ONE of the final, major events in the Ross Ladies calendar is the Autumn Meeting so it is played with mixed feelings as it brings to an end the golfing year. It is a time for reflection on the season that has passed, the highs and the lows and those moments that will stay in the memory. As part of the Autumn Meeting the winner of the prestigious Josie Powell Cup is decided. This trophy is awarded to the lady player who posts the lowest gross score in this competition combined with the score in the Spring Meeting played at the beginning of the season. This year the trophy was awarded to Pat Watkins whose gross score was 168 from the two games. Pat, who received the cup from Josie Powell's mother Bunty, spoke of her pride and delight at winning the trophy. Other prizes were awarded by the Lady Captain, Jeanette Forrester, to Jan Armstrong for the best gross score of 84 in the Silver Division and to Joyce Mackley for the best gross of 101 in the Bronze Division while Gillian Clouder took the prize in the 30 to 36 category with a gross score of 113. The Stableford prizes were won by Margaret Davis in the Silver Division with 36 points (on count back) and Nesta Hirst with 38 points in the Bronze division.
