After several of the early Welsh Border Area fixtures between the flags had been wiped out by waterlogging, the North Herefordshire Hunt committee refused to give up hope of running their meeting. Point-to-point secretary, Frank Morgan entered lengthy negotiations for the fixture to be moved to Hereford Racecourse (HR4 9QU) on Saturday, May 24th, and this enterprising move, now signed and sealed, will certainly provide more opportunities for local horse owners. Pony racing at 3pm will precede the first Point-to-Point race at 4pm, and some races have been added to the original schedule, including a two and a half mile Maiden, while there will be a combined member's race for those qualified with both North and South Herefordshire Hunts. There will be a Mixed Open rather than a separate Ladies and Men's. "It will be the finale of the Welsh border season rather than the usual curtain raiser," commented point to Point Secretary, Frank Morgan. "The Area awards will be presented there, and we're hoping for a great atmosphere." Ironically, with conditions now drying out, provision is being made for the course to be watered if necessary. Entrance to the course will be £12.50 per person, children under 16 free.
