Probus Clubs, designed for retired Professional and Business people, have prospered in Ross for over 30 years. The popular Annual Golf match between the Kyrle Probus Club and the Vaga Probus Club celebrated its 25th anniversary recently.

This not only provides the opportunity for four trophies to be competed for but perhaps more importantly for the ’bragging rights’ that often influences such occasions to be decided for another 12 months.

Ross Golf Club at Gorsley, and its delightful tree-lined environment, was again the venue for battle to commence, with the outcome determined by the totals of the stableford points scored by the best five members of each team.

With Vaga lining up with nine members and Kyrle having just five entrants, the holders Vaga seem to hold a distinct advantage.

However, the Kyrle squad were not to be denied and their highly creditable 166 points total was only matched by Vaga, and the bragging rights were ultimately shared for only the second time in the event’s history.
