The members of Ross-on-Wye and District Motor Club had a very busy week starting with a Navex Rally on Thursday, December 15th. This attracted a maximum entry of 12 cars competing in, what was, a very testing event.
The rally was won by Rich McLachian in his Peugeot 205. On Friday, December 16th, the club held its annual Noggin and Natter for all comers at the club house, in New Street, which was well attended and a good evening was had by all.
An auto-test was held at the livestock centre in Ross on Saturday, December 17th, again with 12 entries taking part over five tests.
The eventual winner was Rob Barker in a Dutton B+ with 514.5 points, closely followed by Ollie Jenkins in his Mazda MX5 with 541.6 points.
In third place was Graham Spencer in his Mazda MX5 with 598.8 points. The top three vehicles were all rear wheel drive cars. It is somewhat unusual to find that the rear wheel drive cars beat the front wheel drive cars convincingly, the first of which was Steve Hoskins in his Ford Ka, followed by Phillip Bridgewater in his Mini 998, with Rob Wilson in his Nissan Micra in third place. Yet again this was a good result for the 14-year-old.
The club wishes to thank all marshals and officials for their help and the livestock centre for the use of the grounds.
The next event is the New Year auto-test on Saturday, January 7th 2017, again at the livestock centre at 12pm.
