A Ross-on-Wye?Horse Rider, Ronie Thomas and her pony, Bobby, have completed the Cricklands double with victory in the summer championship.

Ronie, 10, won the winter championship earlier in the year and at the end of August, claimed victory in the summer edition, which are the Jumping Championships of Great Britain held at the David Broome Event Centre in Caldicot.

Ronie and Bobby were competing in the 10 and under 60cm class and won both heats on the way to the title.

Zoe Thomas, Ronie’s mother, told the Ross Gazette: “We’re gobsmacked, we never went expecting to win but I’m so proud of her.”

Ronie has had Bobby for two and a half years and the pair have only competed at the prestigious Cricklands Championship twice, winning on both occasions.

The Gorsley Goffs student has now been picked to represent the school at Addington Manor, Milton Keynes for the National School Equestrian Association. She will compete in the individual 70cm show jumping championship and is one of only two selected from Herefordshire.
