Ross Tennis Centres Mens 'A' team opened their summer season with a comprehensive win against Stourbridge 'B' in hot, sultry conditions at the Centre on Sunday. Experienced pairing, Richard Wheeler and Chris Friend secured two wins, 6-3 6-4 and 6-0 6-1, as did the re-established pairing of brothers Alan and Neil Meek, 4-6, 6-2 6-4 and 6-1 6-2. Third pair Ed Edwards and very late replacement Christian Porter had a fantastic debut match and beat the opponents second pairing 6-4 7-6, but unfortunately could not sustain this form and lost their second match 4-6 4-6. The overall match score was a 5-1 win for the team which means they secured 6 vital points in their quest to return to the top flight of Division 1 next season.
