This weekend three girls from the Ross area represented Wales in the Lacrosse Home Internationals held at Llanwern High School, Newport.

It was a glorious weekend with teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales competing in the championship, plus an American ex-pat team. The three girls, Malvern St James' pupils Penny and Sophie Green and Monmouth HMSG's Christina Stevenson, had all been selected for the U18B team.

They lost to England, but had a resounding victory against Scotland, so came second overall. Penny, playing Centre/Attack was named "player of the tournament" for the U18B team; and both she and her sister contributed to the goal tally.

Christina was part of the defence, playing with her usual commitment. Lacrosse is a game that requires stamina, fitness and agility and it was a delight to watch the athletes demonstrating their skills.
