Ross Golf Club's Annual Adrian Pritchard Junior Open took place recently attracting 52 aspiring youngsters from far and wide with the 18 holes medal golf competition providing two opportunities. First in determining the Ross Junior to win the Club's 2025 Adrian Pritchard Trophy and secondly a chance for all those taking part to improve their 'order of merit' (OOM) standing in the race to win the Gloucestershire Golfing Union's prestigious Jeff Hall Trophy which recognises the No 1 Junior player in the County.

There were some outstanding performances by the Ross home players which saw Ross Juniors Captain Billy Walker top the final results sheet with a gross 73, net 68 medal score to win the Adrian Pritchard Trophy on count-back from Isaac Vitale whose outstanding 1 under gross par 71 net 68 score looked a winning score for most of the day.

Both Billy and Isaac have enjoyed highly successful seasons involving honours board recognition when Billy won the Brian Huggett and AD Evans Cups, and Isaac the Bradley Court Cup. It was also an occasion for 2024 Ross Juniors Captain James Sayce to show his undoubted potential and his gross 76 score gave him the 3rd place spot in gross terms. It meant too that all 3 Juniors improved their standing in the Glos County Golf's order of merit table for the Jeff Hall Trophy which sees Isaac currently in 4th place out of 214 players in the under 18's group and Billy 7/164 in the Under 16's group.

They both performed outstandingly in the latest OOM event at Minchinhampton GC when Isaac and Billy finished 2nd/3rd respectively with 79 players taking part. With just the final event due to take place at Cirencester GC shortly it looks odds-on that Ambrose Eaves of Broadway GC the current leader will be declared the Glos County Junior Champion and retain the title he won in 2024.

For his sponsorship of the Adrian Pritchard Trophy, the Ross Club are indebted to long standing member Robert Pritchard for initiating the occasion which celebrates the golfing career of his son Adrian who lost his battle with cancer in June 2019 aged 47.

Adrian became a Junior member at the Ross Club in 1986 as a 14 years old progressing to single figures reaching 4 within 18 months before becoming a scratch golfer. Adrian enjoyed many happy years being an assistant PGA professional at the Ross Club before ultimately moving into the building industry.
