Ross Rowing Club took 5 crews to the British Rowing Championships at Holme Pierrepont last weekend and came away with a gold medal and a new British record.

The Women's Junior 14 quadruple scull event is always a very competitive affair and this year was no exception. Ross entered a crew made up of Scarlett Brodholt, Jess Saxon-Macrostie, Isobel Newey and Echo Callaghan, coxed by Anna Barker, a crew known to be fast but which surpassed all expectations. In winning their semi-final, the crew managed to break the course record which had stood for over 10 years. The final was a tighter race with a crew from Avon County proving the primary challenge to the Ross girls, but the Ross crew responded in devastating fashion smashing the course record yet again by knocking a further 4 seconds off their semi-final time, thereby setting a new British record.
