Ross Ladies A team continued their winning run this weekend, beating Worcester Ladies C team by winning all four rubbers.

Val Davies and Brenda Saunders, a strong pair, had a tough match against the Worcester ladies first pair. Brenda and Val got off to a strong start, winning the first set 6:1, the Worcester pair fought back in the second, winning it 7:5, but Val and Brenda got back on track in the third set, with Val’s super net volleys and Brenda’s attacking play winning the third set easily, 6:1.

Ross’s second couple, Jane Pepperell and Gaynor Raine had a reasonably easy match against Worcester’s second pair winning 6:1, 6:4.

They started their second rubber against the first pair with confidence and won that set 6:1, but had a trickier second set with some fantastic rallies. After a bit of a wobble, they managed to clinch the set 7:5.

Val and Brenda played a great match against the Worcester second pair, winning fairly swiftly 6:2, 6:1.

There was some great hitting from both teams and everyone enjoyed the home made food that the Ross team take pride in. The team were also helped by their stalwart supporters, who braved the cold to watch the match.

Another great win for Ross ladies, who gained 10 points, hopefully keeping them at the top of their division in the Herefordshire and Worcester League.
