Ross-on-Wye Rowing Club was represented by the WJ14 quadruple scull of Lara Banks-Martin, Nia Ryan, Imogen Ryan, Daisy Phillips and Rebecca Powell (cox) at the National Schools’ Regatta. This is the top junior event in the calendar for rowers and scullers from the best clubs and schools around the country.

The crew were delighted to get to the main semi-finals by finishing eighth in the opening time trial, and were even more thrilled to finish second in that semi-final and earn a place in the A Final. In an incredibly close final, the girls were beaten into fourth place by just one second. This was an impressive and strong result for this crew and shows great promise for the future.

On Saturday and Sunday, senior and junior rowers from Ross made the short journey to Monmouth to take part in their Regatta. On Sunday, a total of eight wins were recorded by Ross crews, including three from senior crews and five from junior crews. They included first wins for Anna Jones, Lucy Burden and Holly Manning.

This weekend, another local Regatta (Hereford) will be the target for a further travelling squad of rowers from Ross Rowing Club, hoping to build on this great start to the regatta season.
