Ross Tennis Centre Men’s A team completed their first match of the season in Division Three of the Hereford and Worcester Summer League with a convincing home win against Stourport.

The opposition arrived for the match with just two pairs, conceding two rubbers before the match had started. New member, David Punter paired up with Tom Shotton and got his debut off to a dream start, conceding just three games in a comprehensive win against Stourport’s first couple 6-0, 6-3. They were equally efficient in their next match winning 6-1 6-1.

Ed Edwards and Sean Delahoy are developing into an effective pairing and enjoyed an emphatic win over the first pair, 6-3 6-1.

The only blemish on the score card was the loss that young pair Billy Sarjant and Sam Parker had against Stourport’s seconds, but given time they will gain experience and develop into a solid combination. Overall score therefore was a 5-1 win for Ross.

The next home match is June 25th at home, at 10am for any spectators interested.
